Makhadzi: The beginning 

Ndivhudzannyi Ralivhona, also known by her stage name Makhadzi, is a South African singer who was born on 30 June 1996. Raised in Ha-Mashamba, Limpopo, she began her career as a dancer at the age of 12, but later transitioned into a music career as a singer. While attending school, she signed a record deal with Rita Dee Entertainment, leading to the release of her first album, “Muhwalo Uya Ndemela,” in 2015. Her breakthrough came with the release of the single “Tshanda Vhuya” in 2017, which gained significant local attention.

Her eighth studio album, “Matorokisi” (2019), debuted at the second spot in South Africa’s music charts. However, it was her ninth studio album, “Kokovha” (2020), that became one of her biggest successes, reaching number one on the South African iTunes albums charts. This album included hit singles like “Amadoda,” “Mphemphe,” “Kokovha,” and “Tshikwama.” Her tenth studio album, “African Queen” (2021), achieved gold certification in South Africa, while her eleventh studio album, “African Queen 2.0” (2022), topped the charts in the country.

Makhadzi: Music career

Makhadzi’s musical journey began at the age of 13, performing at Taxi ranks and receiving money from people’s offerings. In 2010, she joined the musical group Makhirikhiri as a dancer. However, she eventually shifted her focus to her solo music career. Independently, she released three studio albums: “Muvhango” (2009), “Ndo Tshinya Ni?” (2011), and “Litshani u Ntsala Murahu” (2012). In 2014, her fourth studio album, “Rita Dee,” was released.

In 2015, Rita Dee Entertainment noticed her talent and offered her a record deal, which resulted in the release of her album “Muhwalo Uya Ndemela.” Subsequently, she released “Yo Shoma” in 2017, which earned her two awards at the Fame South African Music Awards for Best Female Artist and Tshivenda Best. Her album “Shumela Venda” also came out in 2017 and was supported by singles “Dj Wa Vhorine” and “Tshanda Vhuya.”
